ABOUT BICC
WHAT IS BICC?
BICC is Bosconian International Chamber of Commerce, Inc. It is a non-stock, non-profit organization which was granted juridical personality and was authorized to operate by the Philippines’ Securities and Exchange Commission on December 1, 2004 under Company Registry No. CN200418641.
BICC is the first and only school-based international chamber of commerce. Its members are Salesian past pupils who are engaged in business and/or who are in the active practice of their professions and who are willing to promote good business sense among themselves. It is more than a business organization. Its primary objective is to do business with a heart.
BICC has gone global because of persistent clamor from Bosconians in different parts of the world who want to do business with people coming from the same Salesian Family.
HISTORY
BICC is a spin-off from the BCC of the early 90s. It was a dream of Don Bosco alumni from Mandaluyong. Inspired by Fr. Miguel Solaroli, SDB, they gathered one day and talked about alumni in need of other alumni who are engaged in business or in the practice of their professions. Because of this, they conceived the idea of setting up an organization composed of Salesian past pupils. It would be primarily business-oriented and would attract the interest of the Bosconian businessmen and professionals.
The initial problem, however, was the question of what type of organization to set up. What kind of organization would be able to hold the diverse interests of the Salesian past pupils who are engaged in almost all types of businesses or are practicing different professions? As the discussions went on, it became obvious that what was needed was to classify and group together past pupils into industry or profession to which they belong and to bring these sectors together under one umbrella organization.
The idea spread fast among enthusiastic alumni from other places in the Philippines. It became a bigger circle of visionaries with only one mission – to turn the dream into reality.
On the 25th day of September 1992, the Bosconian Chamber of Commerce, Inc. acquired legal personality when Philippine Securities and Exchange Commission issued the Certificate of Registration of its Articles of Incorporation and By-Laws.
